Upcoming flight, nerves setting in!

I leave for Korea on Saturday. Arrive Sunday morning their time. Start work Monday. And I admit I have no idea what I’m doing nor what it’ll be like. No idea WHATSOEVER!

What I think I’ll miss about NZ

Family & friends
Rugby & cricket
Milk & bread
Wholly Bagels (in particular, the chicken salad on wholemeal)
Fish ’n’ chips with tomato sauce
Taking a quiet stroll in public
Sitting in a park reading
Blue skies and drinking tap water
Birds singing in the morning
Pulp Sport (tv show)
The crowd goes wild (tv show)
Carly Kirkwood (news presenter)
Kiwi music – eg. Fat Freddy’s drop - I love kiwi bands and music these days

What I think I won’t miss about NZ

All the media rugby coverage
All the media P coverage
All the media NZ politics coverage
NZ Media – straight up, when there’s issues to cover, NZ media is great, but conjecture, doubletalk and scaremongering gets pretty boring (and that’s just the weather reports)
NZ Police running around with tazers – I wouldn’t plan to get hit with one, but that won’t stop the cops
The Haka – I understand people love them, and I love them when they’re done in certain situations, but hey, it’s on this list cos I think I won’t miss them
Dan Carter Jockey underwear ads – I understand people love them, and I love them when they’re done in certain situations etc

Anything you think I’ve missed?

Learning how to post photos

Winter sunset north of Cape Palliser (near Wellington, New Zealand). The box suggests the area name is Whangaimoana. Photo by Heiko Hass (i'd love to claim it for myself)

news of movement

So, the news goes that i've just accepted a job in South Korea teaching english. i've got to get all my stuff in order, and i'll be off soon. Beginning work in early september. so that's the big news of the moment.
i've never been to Korea before, and haven't worked outside New Zealand, so this will be a learning curve. i'm expecting much of this blog to be about S.Korea and teaching, but wait, that's not all...

Sick in Wellington

So, the first entry in this blog is that I've been bedridden for 4 days. I caught a flu from my flatmate and basically couldn't move for the aches in my body. The Doc said I'm not dying, so that's the good news. I feel like I'm getting over it and the body's coming right. Hopefully, after a decent sleep, I'll be up and about tomorrow. Wow, 1 blog and I'm boring even myself.

This'll be more interesting in a few weeks, if my plans get sorted
